Q What does it cost to join Trailblazers?
A Nothing you just go to your nearest Centre and fill in a membership form.

Q Which is my membership Number?
A This is the number that relates to the registration form you filled in when you first competed in Trailblazers and has been put on the small credit card sized membership card.

Q Do I need to re-register each year?
A No once you have registered you do not have to do so again.

Q What show jumping classes do Trailblazers run?
A There are four levels of Trailblazers show jumping, 75cms, 85cms, 95cms and 1.05cms in both junior and senior, though you need to check with your Centre which ones they run.

Q What Dressage classes do Trailblazers run?
A There are three levels of Trailblazers dressage, preliminary, Novice and Elementary in both junior and senior, though you need to check with your Centre.

Q How do I enter a Trailblazers competition?
A Just contact your nearest Centre, you will be able to fill in a registration form to join Traiblazers on the day of the competition.

Q How do I find out when Trailblazers competitions are running?
A They are listed on the Trailblazers web site please click the 1st rounds button on the left hand side of the page, or just contact your nearest Centre. If you click on the Contacts button on the left hand side of the page takes you to the contact details of each centre.

Q How do I qualify for the second round in show jumping?
A Qualification will consist of a double clear in a height class.

Q How do I qualify for the second round in dressage?
A All tests at 58% and over will qualify for the second round at that level.

Q What do I do when I have qualified for the second round?
A Once you have qualified you will be given a copy of a Congratulations letter saying you have qualified, if you choose to take up the qualification you should fill it in and return the letter along with £12 and two stamped addressed envelopes. One envelope will be used to return your qualification card and the other will be used by the Centre to forward details of their second round.

Q Do I have to compete at the same Centre for the second round as I did the first round?
A No you can compete at any Centre for your second round and enter as many Second Rounds as you wish at as many Centres as you wish.  Each Centre runs only one Second Round, but they must have run the 1st rounds for that discipline in order to run a Second Round.

Q Does every Centre run a second round?
A Yes every Centre runs one second round at each level if they have run first rounds in that discipline at that level.

Q How does the other Centre know I have qualified?
A Just take your qualification card with you to show them but don't leave it.

Q Where are the Trailblazers Championships held?
A The are held at the prestigious Stoneleigh-Park (formerly the Royal Show Ground)

Q I have just bought/sold a pony that has qualified for Trailblazers what happens to the qualification?
A Once a partnership ceases the qualification ceases, only qualified partnerships from the second round can compete at the Final.

Q Why can’t I jump my pony in the senior class?
A This is for health and safety reasons because of the different stride length of horses and ponies.

Q I have affiliated my horse with British Dressage does this mean I cannot compete at Trailblazers?
A You can still compete at Trailblazers competitions. Horses that are currently registered with British Dressage or have been registered within the preceding 12 months will not be allowed to compete at preliminary level with any BD points, Novice level with more than 60 points or elementary level with more than 100 points.

Q I have affiliated my horse with the BSJA can I compete at Trailblazers?
A Yes you can compete at Trailblazers but no currently registered JA's will be permitted to compete at the finals, and no currently registered Grade A or B horses may compete at the Finals.

Q My son who is 13 has just bought a 15hh horse which show jumping class does he compete in?
A Riders 13 years and over may ride horses over 148cms in senior classes on or after their 13th birthday.

Q When does my son/daughter become a senior in dressage?
A   A junior someone riding a horse or a pony who will not have attained their 17th birthday on the first day of the National Championships (held at the beginning of August at Stoneleigh Park).

Q I have qualified for the second round at Prelim 7 and Prelim 10 do I need to get two Qualification cards?
A No you have qualified at the Preliminary level it does not matter which preliminary test you do it is that level you have qualified at, as in show jumping if you enter the 75cms it will be a different course each time but it is still the same level you just need one qualification card for the level.

Q I have qualified at 2 levels of show jumping/dressage do I need 2 Qualification Cards?
A.  Yes, if you chose to take up the qualification for that level you need a Qualification Card for that level, if you wish to take up the Qualification for 2 levels you need 2 Qualification Cards.
